GEORGIA

Georgia is situated in the mountainous Caucasus region where Europe meets Asia. It’s one of the world’s oldest Christian nations, an ancient pioneer of winemaking, and blessed with head-turning natural beauty – from forest-covered peaks to Black Sea coves.
Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi (its name means “warm place”, thanks to the region’s hot springs), can be explored by metro, cable car and riverboat. It offers an attractive Old Town featuring Orthodox churches, traditional houses and Persian-style baths, all overlooked by the hilltop fortress of Narikala and the Mother of Georgia statue.
To the east lies the hilly Kakheti region, home of the oldest evidence of viticulture found anywhere in the world and still the country’s premier wine region. To the west you’ll find Gori, with its Joseph Stalin Museum, and the ancient cave dwellings of Uplistsikhe.
