Top things to do in Namibia
Discover Damaraland, view Fish River Canyon and explore Etosha National Park
Here are the top things to do on a Namibia holiday, as chosen by our Africa specialists.

Discover Damaraland
This rugged landscape, with huge granite boulders adorned by a wealth of Bushman rock art, is also home to elusive desert-adapted elephants and black rhinos. There are a number of interesting geological sites worth a visit, including the petrified forest, Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes. The area is also home to the Himba people.

Hop in a hot air balloon
Enjoy the tranquillity and seemingly endless views over the windswept red sand dunes of the Namib desert, on a hot air balloon flight over the Sossusvlei sand dunes.

Explore Etosha National Park
Etosha, meaning ‘great white place,’ is mostly covered by a silvery-white sand that shimmers in the heat, referred to as the Etosha Pan. Waterholes and natural springs dot the southern edge of the pan and act as a magnet for large herds of animals, especially during the dry season. Large family groups of elephants, giraffes, kudus, gemsboks, springboks, zebras, impalas and elands are common, as are good numbers of lions, leopards and cheetahs. The black and white rhino may also be seen.

Visit Okonjima
Okonjima is home to the AfriCat foundation - famous for research and rehabilitation of Cheetah and Leopard who roam freely in the reserve, offering great opportunities to get close to these beautiful creatures.

View Fish River Canyon
The Fish River Canyon, situated along the lower reaches of the Fish River, is one of the most impressive natural beauties in the southern part of Namibia. As the world’s second largest canyon, there is plenty to explore. Take 1- to 5-day hikes inside the 45,000 hectare Canyon Nature Park or drive down the canyon, as well as along the stunning lookout points on the canyon edge.
