The benefits of solo travel
Join like-minded companions
Travelling solo doesn’t have to mean travelling alone. Our group tours combine the thrill of independent travel with the companionship of like-minded people and local guides. Forge life-long friendships, including with fellow solo travellers, as you discover new and exciting places together.
Go smaller, get closer
We keep our group sizes much smaller than most travel operators, with an average of 14 guests and a maximum of 18 guests on most tours. This means more interaction with your guides, access to smaller hotels bursting with character, less time spent gathering ahead of each day's activities, and excursions that are less intrusive for local communities.
You time and shared time
Our tours are designed to strike the right balance between shared activities and 'you time', giving you the best of both worlds. Spend periods of leisure as you wish, either with or apart from the group, and enjoy the privacy of your own double or twin room.
Support from start to finish
From your initial conversation with us, to your first step on foreign soil, to your journey home, we remain on hand for support, guidance and inspiration – in person, online and over the phone.
Extend your journey
Should you wish to explore more of your destination independently, Cox & Kings can arrange a private pre- or post-tour extension for your solo group tour.
Save on single supplements
Our dedicated Solo Travellers tours feature no single supplements - the additional charges often levied against individual guests - yet still base you in double or twin rooms throughout, so you needn't compromise on comfort and space.
Immersive activities
Our group tours feature a variety of experiences designed to immerse you in the culture and nature of your destination. These Signature Experiences range from hot-air balloon rides to hands-on lessons in crafts and epicurean dining.
Local tour managers
Cox & Kings tour managers are carefully selected for their travel experience, destination knowledge and organisational skills. We choose tour managers from the destination, ensuring we support the local community and can guarantee a deeper level of insight.
Scheduled flights
Cox & Kings uses only the services of scheduled airlines for all international and most internal flights. All prices are based on Economy Class flights; however, Cox & Kings offers excellent upgrade rates if required and details of these are shown on the tour itineraries.
Comfortable land travel
For road journeys, Cox & Kings uses vehicles of a size appropriate to the number of people in the group, with air-conditioning where needed. For rail journeys in developing countries, our groups are booked in the best available class on the train, while in Europe we book standard class.
Dine in good company
Cox & Kings tours feature a mix of arranged meals for the group – an excellent chance to mingle – and opportunities for guests to choose where and with whom they eat. Our Solo Travellers tours include daily breakfasts, a welcome dinner and a farewell dinner, in addition to many other meals throughout.
FAQ Solo traveller
On our dedicated Solo Travellers group tours, you travel entirely free of single supplements.
If you join one of our other group tours as a solo guest, additional charges may apply. This is because hotels generally charge based on two people sharing a twin/double room, and a single supplement makes up the full cost.
You will meet your tour manager at the airport upon arrival in the destination country, or at the welcome dinner alongside fellow guests.
Our tour groups average 14 guests, and do not exceed 18 guests, ensuring a more personal touring experience.
Only if you wish. All of our group tours include a welcome and farewell dinner, giving you an opportunity to make friends among your new companions, and bid them farewell after your shared adventures. Where a meal is included, your tour manager will arrange for the group to sit together. When there is an opportunity to eat at a local restaurant, guests may wish to dine together or individually.
All our tours include time for exploring away from the group, be it for the evening or the afternoon.
Our tours attract mature travellers with a thirst for adventure and new experiences. Cox & Kings guests are typically in their fifties, sixties and beyond – though we welcome younger travellers, too.
All our tours include international flights, and are priced based on flights from London Gatwick or London Heathrow. Our experienced team are happy to discuss options for flying from an airport closer to your home.
Our friendly travel experts are on hand to handle any special requests you may have.
