Here are the top things to do on a Nepal holiday, as chosen by our Indian Subcontinent specialists.

Explore Kathmandu
The capital of the ancient mountain kingdom of Nepal, Kathmandu has the air of a medieval city with a maze of narrow streets, wooden temples and beautifully decorated palaces. In the background there is often the gentle sound of jangling cymbals and the markets are a rich blend of colours and aromas. Nepal was only opened to visitors in the 1950s, and today the contrast between 21st century technology and traditional lifestyles help to make Kathmandu one of the world’s most fascinating cities.

Fly over Everest
The ultimate way to see Mount Everest is from above. Take off at sunrise where you can see the spectacular Himalayan mountain range at its best, right outside your window.

Spot Bengal tigers
Chitwan National Park contains a sizeable wildlife population. The park is also home to more than four hundred Asian one-horned rhinos, as well as eighty Royal Bengal tigers, sloth bear, wild boar, gaur (bison), species of deer, monkeys, crocodiles, leopard, and over 450 species of birds.

Trek the Annapurna Circuit
Nepal’s most popular trek, reaches an altitude as high as 5,300 meters. Situated among magnificent mountain scenery, travellers pass through ancient paths once used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet.

Relax in Pokhara
The peaceful town of Pokhara lies on the shores on Nepal’s second largest lake, Phewa Tal, and is surrounded by the majestic snow-capped Annapurna mountain range. Pokhara is an ideal place to relax, to take walks in the surrounding hills, or engage in the more energetic pursuits of trekking or white-water rafting, which this region of Nepal is famous for.
